Jargon buster cuts through the ATEX jungle
ABB has published an "ATEX jargon buster" that helps motor users cut through the jungle of terms and definitions that make up the new ATEX Directives.
The underlying principles of the project, headed by Terry Youll, are to stimulate more organisations to raise the standard of their leadership and management development, and to make a step change in attitudes towards such development.
A priority area for the project is engineering, and companies in that sector with staff levels between 10 and 249 are being urged to take up the opportunity for organisational development.
Once signed up they will be encouraged, with support from professional skills brokers and an investment worth up to £1000, to push forward by developing the strengths of existing management and future leaders.
The project is being supervised by six business links across the region; Devon and Cornwall, Gloucestershire, Wessex, Wiltshire, Somerset and West of England, based in Bristol.
Each area will work to support SMEs with diagnoses and expert advice aimed at identifying the links between leadership and management activity, skills development and an increase in productivity.
It is hoped that up to 3500 organisations will be involved.
Youll said: "The ultimate object is to create a measurable step change in the aspirations of organisations, and to give a real boost to the region through developing workers, providing them with the tools to take business firmly forward".
