The Electric Drive with Mechanical Simplicity
The new Varmeca is a motor with some simple but clever circuitry in the terminal box and a large knob on the outside with which to control the speed.
No coincidence that the motors are green
As the technology of motors, bearings, ventilation and design techniques continue to improve so will the efficiency of electric motors; Leroy Somer is determined to stay ahead in the race.
The Cb 3000 has a pleasing rugged appearance.
It has been engineered to meet the requirements of machine manufacturers for reduced maintenance, compact dimensions, strength and modularity, providing a highly cost effective solution.
The increased torque results from applying CAD techniques to optimise the gear meshing quality.
Overlap ratio is increased and there are significant reductions in friction losses and stresses in the gear teeth.
The Cb 3000 is novel in having an O-ring seal on the gearbox side, enabling easy mounting and dismantling.
The single-part housing has a sealed gasket and dustproof lipseal on the output shaft.
Mounting or replacing the output flange can be completed without affecting the oil-tightness of the assembly.
Maintenance is made easy with an access cover on the top of the unit, which allows filling, emptying and the inspection of internal gears.
The gearbox body is designed to be easy to clean with dust and water traps minimised.
The modular design allows the unit to be adapted to match a wide range of motors using flange adaptors and motor flanges.
This includes variable speed options guaranteeing torque requirements at the output shaft.
There is a choice of mounting options including foot, face or flange.
The engineer or user can easily fit output shaft kits.
Available in seven frame sizes, the Cb 3000 provides an extended range from 9 to 4500Nm and is the highest capacity gearbox on the market.
A reinforced version is available for extreme applications.
There are options available to cover use in difficult or aggressive environments and applications in the food industry.
For OEMs and volume users, selecting the most suitable gearbox is easy using the Leroy Somer Configurator, an easy-to-use software package supplied on CD-ROM.
It allows application parameters such as power and speed to be entered into the system and the software uses this to calculate the optimum configuration.
Technical specifications and dimensional drawings are automatically generated and these can be imported into a CAD program.
