To meet the need for a quick turnaround on customised electric motor and gearbox assemblies, Leroy Somer has established a geared motor assembly centre in Skelmersdale, Lancashire.

In today's competitive market place, OEMs and users expect motor/gearbox combinations to be available quickly and the centre has the specialist knowledge, tooling and components to carry out these changes to factory specifications.

Selecting the right motor and gearbox for a particular application can be a complex task, with many variations of power, speed, torque, operating cycle and gearbox type.

Add to this the choice of extras and mounting arrangements and the possibilities multiply rapidly.

The modular design of the Leroy Somer range enables many of these options to be quickly accommodated.

For example, alternative flange styles, modified shafts, integrated electronics and mechanical brakes, are all within the capability of the assembly centre.

Motors with modifications such as different flanges, thermistors or heaters, are normally available for same day despatch if they are ordered before noon.

More complex work such as the fitment of brakes or breakdown repairs are normally completed overnight for next day despatch.

Leroy Somer specialises in the supply of geared motors for industrial applications and the range includes the innovative Varmeka range of AC variable speed and geared motors.

This features the inverter and control electronics built into the terminal box of the unit.

The geared motor assembly centre provides users and OEMs with the opportunity to specify a motor/gearbox combination to their exact specification with the benefit of a quick turnaround.
