June 2006 sees the UK launch by Leuze Mayser of what is believed to be the first range of safety light curtains and scanners that incorporate Profisafe capability as an integral part of its design.

The advantage of this latest range of light curtains and scanner which is sold under the banner of Compactplus and RS4, respectively, is that of increased versatility and improved costing and easier matching of safety solutions to specific applications.

The Compactplus range of light curtains is available for hand and finger protection with 14 and 30mm resolutions, for horizontal safeguarding of danger zones it offers 50 and 90mm resolutions and there are light grids for perimeter guarding in two-, three- and four-beam configurations.

The safety light curtain also supports a wide range of scanning distances - up to 6m for the 14mm resolution, 18m for the 30, 50 and 90mm resolution models and 60m for the two-, three- and four-beam light grids.

The RS4 Profisafe laser scanner offers 190-degree two-dimensional scanning, with four programmable pairs of protective fields.

In addition to Profisafe, other output modules such as semiconductor, relay and Safetybus and AS-i enable the RS4 and Compactplus to be flexibly integrated into the existing infrastructure.
