Optosensor handles challenging reflections

A Leuze Mayser product story

Optoelectronic sensors are smaller than other models yet offer one of the most powerful specifications to suit extremely diverse applications.

The PRK 25B range of optoelectronic sensors from Leuze Mayser may be physically smaller than other models yet offers one of the most powerful specifications to suit extremely diverse applications - from simple sensing operations to those more challenging with reflective surfaces such as shrink wrap.

The PRK 25B optoelectronic sensor range comes in three basic variants: a retro- reflective unit with a large sensing distance up to 10m ideal for standard applications, a depolarisation sensor for detection of stretch or shrink wrapped items with a range of 8m, and a laser version for greater precision over a distance of 15m.

The new PRK 25B measures a mere 15 x 36 x 27mm, its housing offering protection to IP67 and IP69 and has operational temperatures from -40 to +60C.

Two of the key advantages of the new PRK 25B sensors are that they will continue to operate successfully even when suffering lens contamination caused by the environment and the inherent A2LS facility means outstanding insensitivity to spurious light.

These features create a range that will be at home in industries, from materials handling, packing, through to precision positioning control in a small-parts manufacturing environment.

Throughout any processing operation top-mounted bright LEDs give all-round visibility to indicate sensor status.

Adaptability is a word the design team at Leuze uses to describe the new, economically priced PRK 25B optoelectronic sensor.

In addition to the high operational performance it offers a choice of mounting arrangement, couple this with Ultralock, a simple yet secure push-pull connection ideal for those tight locations and you have a sensor that can become ideal for inclusion in an original machine design or upgrading and retrofit applications.

Alignment procedures have also been simplified with inclusion of Leuze's brightVision technology.

The PRK 25B is the latest in a new breed of sensors being developed by Leuze specifically with the OEM in mind.

The new sensors are produced on a new, more flexible production line that has enabled the company to review pricing structures, the new models being some of the most competitively priced in the country, if not globally.
