Logis-Tech Associates now delivers a Higher National (nationally recognised SQA certified short course) module on "programmable controllers" by distance learning.

This module covers: development of programmable controllers; interfacing; ladder diagrams; system features; programmable facilities - latching relays, timers, counters, shift registers; and additional facilities - D/A and A/D conversion, special facilities.

This unit involves practical work, using a PLC trainer and the following PLC simulators: hydraulics/pneumatics; conveyor sequencing; and tank controller.

This worthwhile module is aimed at technician/engineer/supervisor level and is worth one credit towards an HNC in electrical, electronics, multidiscipline, mechanical, instrumentation or chemical process engineering.

An HNC in engineering consists of 12 credits (SQA/university accredited).
