Foundation course speeds engineering education

A Logis-Tech Associates product story

A new engineering foundation course for students who already possess an HNC in an engineering discipline provides a speedy route towards an HND in engineering or a BEng in multidiscipline engineering.

The new engineering foundation course from A-1 Technical Training is designed for students who already possess an HNC in an engineering discipline and wish to study and progress quickly towards an HND in engineering or a BEng in multidiscipline engineering by distance learning (both courses accredited by a UK university).

This engineering foundation course consists of four Higher National Level modules (SQA accredited): engineering principles (mechanical); engineering principles (electrical), information technology applications and mathematics for engineers.

In the majority of cases, students are exempt from one (or even two) of these modules as they may have been covered in a previous HNC qualification By obtaining these units and coupled with their existing HNC qualification students will have completed 75% of the first year of their HND/BEng (Hons) degree by distance learning.

The main advantage via this route through A-1 Technical Training, a sub division of Logis-Tech Associates, is that there are no examinations involved.

All modules are marked by continuous assessment and on average involve approximately four TMAs (tutor marked assignments) for each unit.

Similar units via an English university involve examinations and TMAs (fewer TMAs however).
