Employees take HNC in mechanical engineering programme by distant learning so they do not have to take time of work to attend day release classes and have a much improved skills set.

Tyco Fire and Integrated Solutions has enrolled a number of its employees on Logis-Tech Associates' HNC in mechanical engineering programme by distant learning.

The benefits to Tyco are that the enrolled employees do not have to take time of work to attend day release classes and have a much improved skills set.

The benefits to the employees are that they can study in their own time and at their own pace thus fitting in with home and work commitments.

They will also benefit with greater engineering understanding, knowledge and skills, better job prospects and no need to attend evening classes.

The course is accredited by SQA, and is a nationally and internationally recognised qualification.

On obtaining the HNC, the student can be eligible to credit transfer towards the first year of an HND or BEng in engineering course via an English university (also available by open or distance learning, but with a few formal examinations) or worth 120 points via the degree through the Open University.
