CAD software goes on show
Alphacam's Part Modeller delivers around 80% of the functionality of premium design software packages at less than 20% of their cost.
Software's material savings are not hot air
At Cameron Balloons the use of Alphacam nesting and manufacturing software has not only dramatically improved material utilisation, but significantly enhanced production throughput as well.
All modules in AlphaCAM V5 feature a completely new graphical user interface (GUI) modelled on the familiar Microsoft Windows XP format.
The fresh new look and feel to the working environment is backed by a wealth of tools, providing total control of the screen layout.
Users are given an unlimited number of view ports; as well as configurable views and project manager tabs, complete with an auto hide option; and fully rendered isometric component views as standard.
In addition, solids, surfaces, clamps, fixtures, tools and tool holders can all be displayed as rendered solid images or wireframes, as required.
Licom has harnessed the strength of leading CAD systems in AlphaCAM V5 by enabling Parasolid, SolidWorks and Catia V4 parts files to be imported seamlessly into the application.
In addition, the implementation of support for solid machining provides close compatibility between the original CAD model and finished part, along with significant "art to part" lead time reductions across the system's full range of milling, turning, laser/flame/water jet profiling, engraving, wire EDM and marble/glass cutting modules.
A further key capability within AlphaCAM V5 is the inclusion of a new parametric module that streamlines the specification and manufacture of families of products - by enabling new machining programmes to be created from existing parts simply by entering numerical values for product variables.
AlphaCAM V5 also incorporates Licom's newly developed "feature recognition" capability.
This new tool automatically detects holes, pockets and profile features within the file using the Parasolid kernel.
By simply applying the required machining strategy in AlphaCAM, fully specified CNC machining programmes can be produced at the click of a mouse button.
Like previous Licom CAD/CAM software releases, AlphaCAM V5 is available worldwide in all major languages.
It is also backed by local customer helpdesks, advanced on-site or remote system support, comprehensive product training programmes and the company's networking, installation and IT consultancy services.
