Socket drive tools improve task performance

A Link Tools product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 17, 2006

Socket drive tools receive TUV Rheinland Q-Marks for safety, durability and ergonomic excellence, and for their ability to significantly improve task performance and reduce body strain.

TUV Rheinland has awarded two Q-Marks to Link Tools International for its exclusive socket drive tools.

The first Q-Mark Certificate was awarded for safety, durability and ergonomic excellence.

The second Q-Mark was awarded after user testing showed the tools ability to significantly improve task performance and reduce body strain.

The patented Link tool system was designed by Pete Roberts, designer of today's industry standard quick release ratchet.

Pete's original design has sold over 150 million units worldwide.

According to Roberts: "My friends wanted a total locking system that would not break connections or drop sockets".

"My new locking action features a case-hardened steel pin that is actuated by a spring-loaded collar".

"The more torque you put on it, the tighter it grips".

"There is no more lost time looking for dropped parts or sockets".

"No more fishing parts out of machines, airplanes or motorcycles".

The Link tool system features 0.25, 0.375, 0.5 and 0.75in drive tools which work with all quality detent sockets.

The Link system provides several unique benefits: rapid, one-handed attachment of sockets and accessories; simple one-handed release; many tools feature both male and female drive ends allowing for greater working combinations, plus the ability to produce more torque; an exclusive locking pin system for all drive tools; Lock Solid U-joints, including the low-profile with the lowest profile of any U-joint type; and a new Locker ratchet wrench that features a female drive end to allow for two ratchets to be interconnected in order to increase work speed.

The Link tools certification also fills the requirements for most contracts and plants that require value documentation, performance documentation and safety documentation.

As Link tools provide unique user benefits, plus work with all quality detent sockets, they are essential for lean manufacturing tool cribs.
