A revolutionary new touch-sensitive designer light, with a pivoting action that allows the light source to be directed to almost any angle, uniquely features a Lemo fully rotational, triaxial connector which permits the light to rotate to 360 degrees.

The Jib Light, which was launched at the 100% Design Show in Earls Court in September 2001, was conceived by designer Nic Wood and won him the national student design award in his final year.

Since graduating in 1998, Wood has developed the light through grant funding and it is now ready to be marketed to the 'high-end' design/retail market.

Manufactured from lightweight aluminium tubing and casting, the Jib Light switches on automatically in response to the thermal effects of the body and the quality of the light can be controlled by a touch sensitive dimmer switch located in the upright tube.

Lemo manufactures a fully rotational connector which was essential to the design of the Jib Light.

A Lemo triaxial connector is used at the central joint of the two halves of the light.

This connector is exceptionally strong; the female contacts are machined from bronze and combined with the brass male contacts give a strong, continuous electrical connection ensuring there is no flicker as the light is rotated.

Contacts are gold-plated giving solid electrical performance for thousands of cycles.

The Jib Light is illuminated by a 50 and 35W lamp, powered by a 105W, 12V transformer housed in the light base.

Lemo connectors, with full EMC screening were also chosen because of their unique ability due to handle considerable current in limited spaces.
