In developing its newest and toughest actuator Linak asked its customers throughout the world what features it should have, and has incorporated the majority into the design.

The TDC integrates a number of competitive features that makes life easier for bed manufacturers.
The key lies in the fact that the actuator has integrated limit switches, relays and electronic overload protection that make it safe to connect directly to the inputs/outputs of the PLC.
LA12 PLC has a maximum thrust of 750N and a maximum speed of 40mm/s with a typical lifetime of over 500,000 cycles.
By including relays and electronic overload protection within the actuator, savings can be made not only on the purchase of fewer components but also on drawing, wiring, mounting and testing time whilst the limit switch ensures that the actuator stops when reaching the end of stroke.
Individual signals for both end stops are available.
The integrated electronic overload protection circuit ensures that the actuator and any machinery it is fitted to will not be damaged due to an accidental overload, with the actuator stopping and giving a signal for error messages etc.
Optional specifications for LA12 PLC include a hall sensor or potentiometer for relative or absolute positioning, IP51, 65 or 66 protection class, three different spindle pitches, four different stroke lengths and two variants of back fixture.
Linak states that the LA12 PLC offers a practical and cost effective alternative to traditional pneumatic systems, gear motors and traditional actuators and also offers considerable energy consumption savings over pneumatic systems.
