Actuator moves in hostile environments
In developing its newest and toughest actuator Linak asked its customers throughout the world what features it should have, and has incorporated the majority into the design.
Linak-UK has launched what it reckons is its toughest electric linear actuator yet, the LA36 Designed specifically to provide linear movement in hostile environments where it might be surrounded by water, dust, steam or oil, the LA36 underwent extensive trials before its release, including a 500h salt spray test

The TDC integrates a number of competitive features that makes life easier for bed manufacturers.
That it survived this is due, in part, to its aluminium motor housing being coated to corrosion class 4, its anodised outer tube and the housing of all electronics within the corrosion proof body.
In developing LA36 Linak asked its customers throughout the world what features an actuator of this type should have and has incorporated the majority into the design.
A lower current consumption provides greater efficiency and lower operating costs.
In the event of power loss a handcrank facility is available to manually return the actuator to the rest position.
A back fixture, rotatable in increments of 30 degrees, allows for greater mounting flexibility and built in end stop switches are optional.
Positioning feedback is also optional by means of either a potentiometer or a Hall-effect sensor.
The LA36 will be available in 12, 24 or 36V versions and can lift up to 6800N at a maximum speed of 12mm/s and has a stroke length of 600mm.
Linak actuators have already been used for applications as diverse as hospital beds and patient hoists, floor cleaning machines, vehicle access platforms, combine harvesters, ventilation shafts and window openers.
The company believes that because electric linear actuators are maintenance free, reliable, quiet, smooth, clean in operation and capable of operating in remote locations they offer considerable advantages over similar hydraulic or pneumatic products.
The Linak range also includes lifting columns, fully programmable control boxes, foot and hand switches.
