New from step motor specialist Lin Engineering is a range of 1.8-degree NEMA 11 vacuum motors.

New from step motor specialist Lin Engineering is a range of 1.8-degree NEMA 11 vacuum motors.

The 211 vacuum rated series motors are capable of up to 117mNm of holding torque, depending on stack size, and are ideal for commercial grade vacuums from 10e-4 to 10e-7 Torr.

The NEMA size 11, 1.8-degree motor measures a mere 28mm square and is available in three lengths: the 211-13 is 31.5mm, the 211-18 is 44.5mm and the 211-20 is 50.5mm.

They provide high torque in a small package, with respective holding torque of 65, 97 and 117mNm.

In order to make these small but powerful motors vacuum rated, Lin Engineering ensures that all the special handling and parts necessary are used in the manufacturing process.

First, all paint and oils are removed from the motor.

Next, high temperature windings are used as well as Teflon leads.

Lastly, depending on the rating of the vacuum environment, either no-lube stainless steel bearings or special-lube stainless steel bearings are use.

During all of the manufacturing process latex gloves are worn to insure that no residue from human touch is left behind on the motors.

All of the above special parts and handling ensure that limited outgassing and contamination will occur.
