This year's spring general meeting of the LonMark Interoperability Association will be held from on 15th and 16th May 2003 in Milan, Italy.

The meeting will feature exhibits and programmes bringing together the LonWorks community in an environment aimed at creating dialogue and opportunity for the wide variety of companies using and interested in interoperable products.

Entitled "Interoperability works", the exhibits and sessions will provide a forum for cross-pollination, networking, and business opportunity as well as educating the public to the benefits of LonMark certified products.

As part of the first day of the event, the Association will stage a morning general session with task group meetings focused on discussion and development of the wide variety of functional profiles.

These working meetings bring together all levels of the LonWorks community to work together to develop the guidelines for interoperable devices.

Scheduled for the evening of 15th May is an opportunity for LonMark members and LonUser groups to showcase their latest solutions in the relaxed atmosphere of a cocktail reception.

Open to all meeting attendees, the reception will feature product displays from a wide variety of LonMark members, as well from the dozen international LonUser Groups.

The same exhibits will be on display during the events of the following day.

Day two of the event, the 16th May, is designed as an opportunity for the international LonWorks community to come together in a collaborative environment to work together with the LonMark Association to define and develop the market for interoperable devices.

The morning session will be made up of exhibits of interoperable products as well as application story presentations in a theatre area.

The afternoon will offer a variety of conference tracks including "Making the LonMark Association work for you", a discussion group to allow open dialogue between the association, LonMark membership, and LonUser groups to discuss membership, ideas for growth and possibilities for change.

Also scheduled are the "Interoperability at work - panel" and the "Interoperability at work - tour".

The moderated panel discussion will be made up of representatives involved in the implementation of a local installation and the tour will take visitors on a site visit of another local LonWorks application.

"The LonMark Spring Meeting is a great venue for education about the Association and the benefits of interoperable devices and open systems", said Earl Gray, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the LonMark Association.

"Bringing together the LonMark membership with the international LonUser community also presents a fantastic opportunity for networking, collaboration, and co-operation".
