Open systems transform building industry
Independent systems integrators are evolving into a greater source of knowledge and experience, taking on the role of advisor and technology partner.
Following the general session will be a series of task group meetings to encourage information exchange on the latest functional profiles, technical developments, and marketing initiatives concerning the Lonmark Association.
This year's general meeting is of significant importance as the association's board of directors and the European LonUsers Groups chairmen will meet in series of open dialogues to continue to discuss the possibilities to merge the groups as Lonmark International in order to build a stronger and more distributed Lonmark presence worldwide.
With the creation of this new organisation, the Lonmark Association will move certification beyond devices and into specifying systems.
The first series of discussions took place during the association's 2003 spring general meeting in May in Milan, Italy.
Joint task groups were formed in Milan, comprising Lonmark board members and the chairmen of the individual LonUsers Groups to define a new, collective structure for increased cooperation and local market development.
The combined groups should be better able to pursue common tasks and objectives such as standards, marketing, and profile development.
The groups will report the results of their efforts at the upcoming meeting.
"It is time to end the fragmentation that has hampered demand and availability of lonworks based products", said Barry Haaser, Executive Director of the Lonmark Interoperability Association.

Over 100 exhibitors are expected to exhibit at this years Lonworld fair, including Lonmark members, Apice, Cypress Semiconductor, Capelon, Delmatic, Engenuity Systems, Grundfos Management, Lexel Electric, Plexus Technology, TAC, TLON and Warema Electronic.
