Silicone foam set for underground duties

A MTI Leewood product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 25, 2006

MTI Specialty Silicones has been awarded a large scale railway car contract for London Underground, using its patented MF-1 silicone foam material as seat cushions.

MTI Leewood's Sister company MTI Specialty Silicones has won a landmark contract in Europe - a first large scale railway car contract for London Underground, using its patented MF-1 silicone foam material as seat cushions.

It is noteworthy that the London Underground has been using MF-1 for operator seats for years, primarily for comfort and durability.

With fire safety standards becoming increasingly important, MF-1 has now also been chosen for passenger seating as well.

It is the goal of MTI Global to win the same dominant market share in Europe that it currently enjoys in the North American railcar industry.
