Oscillating mounts feature compact size and price

A Lovejoy product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 25, 2004

Lovejoy has extended its Rosta AB oscillating screen mount family by adding a more compact oscillating mount with broader appeal.

Startup and shutdown might represent the most critical time periods in the life of any shaker screen, its motors, V-belts and bearings.

Until the screen adjusts to the correct frequency, excessive vibrations or resonance causes unnecessary wear on surrounding equipment, is detrimental to safety, and can push decibel levels above OSHA noise regulations.

Now Lovejoy has extended its Rosta AB oscillating screen mount family by adding a more compact oscillating mount with broader appeal.

The new, Lovejoy Rosta AB-D oscillating mount takes the rugged characteristics of the heavy-duty AB mounts, and refines them, adding the best value per pound of capacity on the market.

The new AB-D product line from Lovejoy helps meet the challenge in a lighter duty operation that calls for the same type of shock absorption as in a larger-load operation, yet requires greater economies of scale.

The Lovejoy Rosta AB-D oscillating mount comes with a warranty of one year.

Determining the right size Lovejoy Rosta AB-D oscillating mount for any application should involve a Lovejoy field sales engineer; several variables must be factored in.

Compared with common alternatives, such as coil springs, the AB-D linear system helps compensate for the resonance shaker screens experience during startup and shutdown.

Coil springs or marshmallows inherently want to move in 360 degrees, due to their design and cannot help solve this common resonance problem.

The Lovejoy Rosta AB-D oscillating mount was created specifically for free oscillating screens and shaker conveyors suspensions with drive frequency below 12Hz.

This component's compact design fits into tight spaces for ideal integration into existing screen systems.

The Lovejoy Rosta AB-D oscillating mount consists of two series of connected Rosta double rubber suspensions and offers a high isolation rate of approximately 98% towards sub frame and building structure with its low natural frequency of 3.6 to 3.2Hz.

The Lovejoy Rosta AB-D design also eliminates the need for side-snubbers - the 16 rubber elements in the Rosta model absorb inertia in the screen box within seconds.

The high degree of lateral stiffness gives fully assured screen box fixation; transportation clamps for mobile screening plants are not needed.

Furthermore, this also eliminates the need to install expensive vibrating motors or exciters with electromagnetic brake systems.

Finally, the Lovejoy Rosta AB-D oscillating mount gives the best cost/load relation of any system on the market.

By eliminating the need for auxiliary parts, such as side-snubbers or more expensive brake systems, the overall operational design is simplified and parts inventory reduced.

Additionally, the rubber elements that absorb shock in the Rosta AB-D are designed to last, and they require no lubrication or other maintenance.

Seven sizes in this new compact line are currently available, ranging from the AB-D 18, with a capacity from 500 to 1200N, to the AB-D 50-200, capable of handling 11 to 16kN.
