A major factory relocation project for the leading producer of industrial anti-vibration products has been completed with the support of Lorien Engineering Solutions.

A major factory relocation project for the leading producer of industrial anti-vibration products has been completed with the support of Lorien Engineering Solutions.

Trelleborg Industrial, which produces anti-vibration systems for rail, marine and general industrial applications, has moved to a 13,000m2 green-field development at Bursom Park, near Leicester, from an inner city site.

Its new factory was officially handed over to the new owners on 23rd October.

The relocation is seen as a turning point for Trelleborg which has been producing anti-vibration components since the 1920s at its former premises at Evington Valley.

The company has invested significantly in new buildings, processes and machinery, along with a programme of skills training for its staff, to equip the business for its future role at Bursom Park.

Keith Croysdale, Sales Director of Trelleborg Industrial AVS, said: "This is the beginning of the final phase of our transfer to this magnificent new facility.

This company has been a major employer in Leicester for over 50 years and our new home enables us to look confidently to the future in the knowledge that Trelleborg IAVS will provide a benchmark for our industry, offering the market world class products and technology.

We are very glad to acknowledge the support and expertise of our friends at Lorien and Ballast, who have worked so hard to make the project such a success.

Lichfield-based Lorien Engineering Solutions has supported Trelleborg every step of the way, from pre-investment study, through site selection, space planning, concept design, local authority negotiations and contractor selection to order placement and on site works.

Lorien acted as employer's agent under the design and build contract for the construction and was responsible for the factory services infrastructure design, procurement and implementation of power, LV distribution, lighting, compressed air and chilled water services.

Lorien director Steve Turner said: "The key to success lay in establishing the right plant layout at the very beginning of the project and in being aware that plant layouts and associated services had to be flexible to accommodate changing production requirements".

Trelleborg Project Manager Mike Crow said: "The Lorien project team and methodology has worked well, providing us with a single point of contact for all construction and engineering consultancy services.

They have dovetailed well with the Trelleborg team and have worked with us as a partnership from the very start".
