Chemicals manufacturer uses project management and design expertise in move to new premises in Peterborough equipped to handle a wide range of liquid, powder and granular products.

A chemicals manufacturer is using the project management and design expertise of Lorien Engineering Solutions as it moves to new premises.

Safapac, based in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, is a chemicals formulating, blending and packing contractor, providing one-stop sourcing for the chemicals industry.

The company is moving from its existing 6500m2 premises to a facility in Peterborough equipped to handle a wide range of liquid, powder and granular products.

Lichfield-based Lorien Engineering is working with Safapac to project manage the move, overseeing plant design and rationalisation with as little disruption to production as possible.

Lorien Director Steve Turner said: "This is a challenging project, not only because we are phasing the relocation in time with production, but also because we are working to a fast-track timescale".

"We are providing a full multi-disciplinary design team including the production of 3D internal modelling to refine process flows and ergonomics".

The firm is also acting as principal contractor to discharge Safapac's health and safety obligations.

Lorien is a multi-disciplinary engineering design and project management organisation.

The company has a staff of more than 60 specialists who design and deliver manufacturing capital projects and performance improvement consultancy in the brewing, drinks, food and pharmaceutical industries.

It recently received the President's Award for occupational health and safety in construction by RoSPA.
