2007 has signalled a bulging order book and a growing workforce for Lorien Engineering Solutions, the Lichfield based engineering design and project management company.

Having completed production, research and facility projects totalling close to GBP 1 billion over its 21 years, the firm is well known to the major food, brewing and drinks companies, and has a growing reputation in the pharmaceutical and waste handling/environmental sectors.

Lorien has long been associated with value-added engineering design and professional project management.

From its base in Lichfield, Staffordshire, the company provides services to client organisations across the UK, and into Europe and Asia.

Lorien Director Responsible for Sales, Bill Treddenick said: "2006 was our best performing year ever, and the sales order book for 2007 is looking very healthy, with new work coming from all of our core sectors, with particular success in waste and pharmaceutical".

"We've regularly achieved a high %age of repeat orders from clients who enjoy a long-term relationship with us".

"An increase in capital investment within these organisations, together with a strategy for developing new client relationships, are the main reasons for our recent boost in activity".

He continued: "Our Sustainable Waste and Energy team has had considerable success in late 2006, winning a series of waste recycling and composting schemes, and in January our pharmaceutical business embarked on a significant three-year redevelopment for a relatively new Lorien client".

"Here again we are laying down the Foundations for long-lasting relationships which we hope will expand to further projects within client group companies".

To support the growing order book, Lorien has been recruiting steadily over recent months, adding engineers to all of the firm's main discipline areas including Building design and building services, mechanical utilities, process engineering, electrical and automation, project and construction management and packaging systems engineering.

"Lorien's Engineering Director Steve Slater said: "Recruiting the right calibre of people is not always easy, and the shortage of skilled and experienced people in the marketplace is apparent".

"However, a healthy order book, a good employer profile and a varied portfolio of projects has helped us enormously".

Lorien Managing Director David Morris concluded: "2006 was a very good year, and I am optimistic that we will also turn in a strong performance during 2007 - the start of the year has been excellent".

"Providing a first class service and developing partnerships with our clients is at the heart of our success".

"Lorien takes a lot of care and time building these relationships, and then providing tailored response services to meet the client's requirements in order to earn their loyalty over the long-term".

"In order to support this we train and develop our staff and take care in recruiting the best people we possibly can - they are our chief assets and the future of our business".
