Schwarzenbach brings to Prima North America over 20 years experience with leading European companies in the field of high-power lasers for industrial material processing.
He holds a doctorate degree from the Institute of Applied Physics of the University of Berne in Switzerland.
Thomas Burdel has been appointed Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Prima Laser Tools Division of Prima North America.
This division imports machine components from Prima in Italy and provides laser and other local component integration, installation and after-sales services to customers in North America.
Prima Laser Tools is also based in Chicopee (Massachusetts) where demonstration, application and training facilities are located.
Burdel brings to Prima over 20 years experience in the machine tool business, the most recent 10 years in the marketing of sheet metal laser cutting systems.
He has held sales management positions with leading US machine tool companies and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Farleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford/Teaneck, New Jersey.
Dr Paolo Cigna, President of Prima North America, announced the two appointments stating: "We are committed to increasing our R and D efforts in the US as part of the overall Prima strategy for innovation and growth.
This commitment also extends to improving sales, service and training to meet customer expectations for ever-increasing quality and productivity.
The appointments of Pieter Schwarzenbach and Thomas Burdel are designed to further strengthen our management team and will help achieve our objectives as we move from recession into the recovery phase of the next business cycle".
