Vision system compares with CAD data

A Lot-Oriel product story

3D data measured with the new Comet Vario-Zoom 2M sensor (2Mpixel camera) can now immediately be compared with the corresponding CAD data online.

3D data measured with the new Comet Vario-Zoom 2M sensor (2Mpixel camera) can now immediately be compared with the corresponding CAD data online.

The deviations are displayed in a false colour graphic.

Thus, after each single measurement, the user obtains a fast and reliable measurement result showing the difference between measured data and CAD data.

This allows the immediate initiation of necessary corrective actions (eg tool modifications) on time.

For this instant data comparison, the measured data are reduced by an intelligent algorithm which retains the high point density (full sensor resolution) at border lines and drill holes.

On areas without distinctive surface features, the data are reduced automatically; surface details important for inspection purposes are stored with highest resolution.

The robust measuring head is constructed for the use in an industrial environment and features an interface for robot mounting.

By combining the high-resolution Comet VarioZoom 2M sensor with a robot positioning system and the Steinbichler measuring and inspection software (Cometplus and Cometinspect), a fast and cost-effective online inspection can be integrated into the quality assurance process for serial inspection.
