A forthcoming workshop at Manchester Metropolitan University will explain how to get more from nanomechanical testing.

The workshop will be held on 20th April 2005, and there will be an opportunity for delegates to also attend a practical session the following day at Micro Materials in Wrexham, Clwyd.

Micro Materials is a world leader in nanomechanical testing instruments.

The companys NanoTest incorporates a hot stage to allow indentation at temperatures in excess of 500C.

New developments include a piezo stage and liquid cell.

The workshop will offer chance to find out more about hardness, modulus, adhesion and toughness measurements at the nano- and micro-scale level.

Guest speakers and personnel from Micro Materials will give an overview of the techniques and then some examples of the work currently being undertaken.
