Lattice3D has a new XVL Studio family of products that extends the use of 3D XVL data into design review and interference checking as well as improving viewing, animation creation, assembly/disassembly instructions and creation of 2D illustrations.

With this release there will be three XVL Studio products available: known as XVL Studio Basic, XVL Studio Standard and XVL Studio Pro, these are solutions that further integrate ultracompressed, but highly accurate, 3D design data, as XVL format files, for use from engineering and manufacturing to technical publications, IETMs, sales and marketing websites.

Most notable additions to the product line are the new interference checking and design validation tools specified and developed with and for Toyota Motor Co and already in use at that customer.

"As a result of XVL Studio Pro, the man-time for interference checking was reduced by about two thirds", reported Toyota Motor Co.

XVL Studio leverages the very-high-compression available in XVL formats to help reduce the time and computing power usually needed to explore and validate product models in traditional CAD systems.

In a recent white paper by Cyon Research the issue of computing power in the design validation market was raised: "Business and engineering managers have long expected that the ability to model products in the computer would simplify and streamline the product data management and validation process".

"While that has happened to some extent, the problem in general has proven to be more than current systems can readily digest: Both graphics and general computation have still been pushed beyond their current capabilities by full-sise product models".

"Lattice 3D technology takes the CAD model and "shrink-wraps".

"what you get is a precise but lightweight representation of your 3D model".

"Lattice 3D's free viewer software renders it at the desired resolution, appropriate to the context".

"What you wind up with are beautifully realistic and precise models that take up less than 1-5% as much memory as the original", Dr Joel Orr, Cyon Research's chief visionary, commented.

The new XVL Studio products bring even greater flexibility to the use and re-use of 3D data in the ultracompressed, high fidelity, 3D XVL format.

This means that instead of trying to conduct complex operations on massive files, these functions are suddenly faster and more flexible.

For example in the ability to rapidly interference check large 3D assembly models prior to manufacturing and production.

The tools for adding dimensions and notations to a model have been noticeably improved within this product line, plus the addition of new tools for accurately measuring 3D data.

The improved functions and interface provide for faster and more accurate cross-sectioning of 3D data, as well as transparent, wireframe, and rendered displays of the models.

In addition, photo-realistic rendering is available during viewing functions.

Advanced viewing with multiple windows and snapshots allows users to display multiple views simultaneously and save views for future reference and communication.

The new XVL Studio Product family is available from Lattice3D immediately.
