Lattice Technology has developed version 9.2 of XVL Player and XVL Player Pro.
XVL Player is a free 3D data viewer that enables designers, engineers and manufacturers to view 3D data and 3D animations and measure, cross-section and share XVL data.
XVL Player Pro delivers more powerful functions.
XVL is a lightweight 3D format that enables good 3D compression rates without losing data accuracy.
It offers compression 50 to 200 times smaller than original 3D data file sizes, allowing designers that need to share and reuse massive 3D CAD assemblies to retain accurate data.
XVL Player can also be embedded into other applications such as 3D BOMs, parts-catalogues, PDM/PLM systems and customer applications developed with the XVL Player API.
This allows lightweight 3D data to be used seamlessly by the product, from digital mockup to sales and service.
Lattice Technology's XVL Studio products create XVL data in 3D, including assembly animations, process instructions and simulations.
The XVL Player allows free viewing of that data, without high end CAD systems or robust hardware platforms.
3D XVL data offers accurate measurement and a variety of dimensioning inside XVL Player.
This feature can now measure the length of a continuous wireframe in a 3D part and the length of a profile.
These functions are useful for sheet metal design and production planning.
XVL Player's cross-section function has been improved so the cross-section cutting plane can be moved along the same direction of the user's view.
This enables the user to view and observe the transition of the 3D profile without changing the view.
