Peter Wright, a well known figure in the gear industry, has formed his own company to provide products and services to organisations within the gear and power transmission industry.
Well over 500 companies supplying the car industry are assessed by DaimlerChrysler each year in various categories and only six are rewarded with the prestigious award for their particular services.
Sales Director Milton Vendramine received the award at the ceremony in Sao Paulo from Dr Gero Herrmann, President of DaimlerChrysler South America and Frithjof Punke, Vice President - Finance.
Asked about the significance of the prize, he stressed: "For Schaeffler Brazil, the Interaction Award is confirmation that it is worthwhile looking for the best solutions for the best possible components in the drive train of modern vehicles together with our customers".
"At the same time, we see the award as a stimulus and commitment to our future work - it will be characterised by effective co-operation based on trust and the awareness that suppliers must also make their contribution as a driver in the cost optimisation process".
Luk has been supplying the "prize-winning" components for the drive train to the DaimlerChrysler Works in Sao Bernardo since 2001, where the DMF and the SAC are fitted in the Accelo models.
The DMF is a torsion damper that is arranged between the engine and the transmission, and is used to damp the torsional vibrations of the motor, thus ensuring the most comfortable ride possible.
The name of the self-adjusting clutch is explanation enough: over the life of the clutch a well-thought-out mechanism ensures that compensation is made for continual wear and identical low actuation forces are always achieved combined with extremely accurate operation.
The DMF and SAC are among the most successful components in the product range of the international Luk Group.
Every year about 14 million clutches and almost 5 million DMFs are produced in 18 works worldwide.
