With energy costs rising, and the use of compressed air growing, it is important to develop a sound operating and maintenance strategy for your plant compressed air system.
Compressed air waste can be eliminated and your system can reliably supply adequate high quality air by following a few key steps.
According to a recent US Department of Energy publication (1), compressed air systems account for 10 percent of all electricity usage and roughly 16 percent of U.S.
industrial motor system energy use.
Seventy percent of all manufacturing facilities in the United States use compressed air in their production processes.
Compressed air audits of industrial plant air systems find large energy saving opportunities for relatively low project costs.
The same DOE report states, "In small-to medium-size industrial facilities, approximately 15 percent of compressed air system usage can be saved with simple paybacks of less than 2 years.
In larger facilities, these savings could range from 30 to 60 percent of current system usage." .
