CD-ROM speeds cylinder selection and
integration
The IHC Designer CD-ROM helps plant and machinery designers and engineers to select the optimum hydraulic cylinder solutions for different machines and applications.
The IHC Designer CD-ROM helps plant and machinery designers and engineers to select the optimum hydraulic cylinder solutions for different machines and applications, then automatically download high quality 3D drawings to their own CAD systems Supplied free to Rexroth customers, the IHC (interactive hydraulic cylinder) Designer is the first to offer 3D drawings in file formats suitable for all commercial CAD systems, as well as an integrated DFX viewer with motion simulation for directly manipulating the CAD models on screen
It also generates model codes, technical information sheets, 2D drawings, pdf documentation and e-mails for quotation and ordering purposes.
Version 1.0 covers all standard Rexroth industrial cylinders for mainstream machine tool, press and machinery applications, with a choice of nine different languages, including English, German, French or Spanish.
It runs on a standard PC with Pentium 500MHz processor, 128Mbyte RAM, 150Mbyte hard disk space and a Windows 98/NT4.0 operating system or higher.
The IHC Designer compresses the huge range of standard tie rod, mill type and servo cylinders, in pressure ratings up to 4000bar and configurations for light, medium and heavy duty tasks, onto a single disk.
For the first time, design engineers are able to progress from product selection, choosing from literally thousands of models, to mechanical data and dimensional drawings, quickly, easily and reliably, the interactive nature of IHC Designer guiding the user through each stage.
Once the program is running, three user-friendly selection functions are available: "quick start", where the model number is known, "type code", which guides the user logically through code identification, and "technical selection", which generates product proposals on the basis of an interactive cylinder specification process.
In the latter routine, the user selects cylinder type, then is prompted to answer technical queries regarding pressure, force, stroke length, mounting style and other parameters, with min/max figures and a technical glossary assisting the process, followed by cushioning, sealing system and accessory requirements.
The system next automatically generates a technical data sheet, complete with model code number and basic dimensions.
Whichever selection routine is followed, a pdf datasheet, list of accessories and both 2D and 3D CAD drawings are made available for the configured cylinder.
This information can be printed out or saved into job-specific folders, and the CAD drawings can be studied and manipulated via the integral DXF viewer, which features rotational and measurement tools, mouse-controlled zoom and other standard CAD buttons.
Thanks to its own specially developed CAD kernel, IHC Designer is compatible with virtually all commercial CAD packages, allowing files to be exported to the user's own system, saving design time and cost.
It has been successfully tested in conjunction with AutoCAD, Autodesk Mechanical, Catia, Ideas, Inventor, Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, UniGraphics and others, underlining its usability.
The integrated enquiry by e-mail function then enables the user to obtain a quotation from Rexroth by return, while the shopping basket facility completes the order and supply process without risk of misinterpretation or delay.
