Level transmitter allows easy fitting

A Magnetrol International product story

Magnetrol's Jupiter 200 uses the electro-magnetic field of the float inside the bypass cage of the MLI to determine the liquid level.

The fastest and most efficient way to upgrade a magnetic level indicator (MLI) is to clamp a Jupiter 200 magnetostrictive level transmitter onto its by-pass cage.

The installation can be performed under process conditions and without any modification of the installed equipment.

Magnetrol's Jupiter 200 uses the electro-magnetic field of the float inside the bypass cage of the MLI to determine the liquid level.

The Jupiter launches a high-frequency signal over its probe, with a maximum length of 5.7m.

The magnetostrictive wire twists at the position of the float.

This mechanical motion is in fact an acoustic signal that will be picked up by the piezo crystal inside the transmitters' head.

The measurement of the transit time between sending and receiving the signal results in a very accurate level measurement (+/- 0,4mm).

Since the signal has not lost any amplitude, it is capable of tracking a second float position (liquid interface) with the same accuracy.

When needed, the Jupiter's sensitivity and float polarity can be adjusted to the used float type via its menu.

The HART/AMS or Foundation fieldbus protocol enable the user to remotely configure the unit, monitor the measurement, identify malfunctions and provide effective troubleshooting.

The unit retains a history of events since its last reset.

The device can handle process temperatures ranging from -196 up to +455C.
