Magnetrol transmitter based on pulse burst radar

A Magnetrol International product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 12, 2009

The model R82 26GHz two-wire non-contact Radar Transmitter from Magnetrol is a low-cost level transmitter based on the pulse burst radar concept.

Short bursts of 26GHz microwave energy are emitted and subsequently reflected from the liquid level surface.

Liquid level is then calculated by applying the user's tank height and sensor offset values.

The model R82 can be used in thousands of generic storage applications to measure within inches of the tank top.

The encapsulated horn in Polypropylene or Tefzel allows it to be used in the most corrosive media.

The model R82 can handle process temperatures from -40 to 93C and from full vacuum up to 13.8 bar within a measuring range up to 12.2m.

Its internal launcher adjustment allows beam orientation without removing the model R82 from the vessel.

It has a standard 4-20mA output with Hart that can be used for data transmission, configuration and diagnostics.

The Pactware program provides diagnostic capabilities including capture of echo waveforms, viewing of trend data and all transmitter configuration parameters.

Magnetrol's Pulsar (6GHz radar) measures turbulence, foam, heavy vapours and build up on the antenna and/or applications in ranges up to 20m.
