Extensional viscosity instrument to be developed
The National Physical Laboratory has awarded Magna Projects and Instruments Ltd the licence to develop and manufacture its Extensional Rheometer
The National Physical Laboratory has awarded Magna Projects and Instruments Ltd the licence to develop and manufacture their Extensional Rheometer for measuring directly the extensional viscosity of materials such as molten polymers.
The extensional viscosity - as opposed to the more commonly measured shear viscosity - is a very important parameter in processes which involve stretching flows, eg extrusion, film and bottle making, calendering, fibre spinning, cable coating etc.
