Four-pole industrial motor boasts more
power

In answer to demands for even more power, Maxon Motor is now offering a 300W EC four-pole industrial motor in addition to its original 200W unit.

In answer to demands for even more power, Maxon Motor is now offering a 300W EC four-pole industrial motor in addition to its original 200W unit Both options will deliver tremendous torque at low speeds, without the need for a gearhead

What's more, they will do so with quiet sophistication.

Despite its 50% increase in power rating, the latest brushless DC model (part number 283150 in the Maxon catalogue) comes in a surprisingly light, compact package.

Its housing is 155mm long, with a 45mm-square cross-section, and of course the absence of a gearhead means further savings on size, weight and cost for designers who choose it.

To give an idea of the new motor's performance: at 3580rev/min it will supply a constant torque of over 670mNm; and its speed-torque gradient of 0.5rev/min/nNm is four times stronger than that of a comparable two-pole unit.

It enjoys all the benefits of the System Maxon ironless winding, whose grooveless stator ensures no detent.

The result is excellent control, particularly in positioning tasks.

There is also minimal mechanical vibration, so operation is exceptionally smooth and quiet.

Rotor position is signalled through a three-channel encoder, and the unit is fully compatible with Maxon's four-quadrant DEC 70/10 controller.

For the most complex positioning tasks, however, the Maxon DES 70/10 servoamplifier is recommended.

This combines with the EC 45 four-pole to produce a highly dynamic servodrive with great potential for use in industrial automation.

"We are always happy to respond to designers' varying needs", says Keith Ellenden, CEO of Maxon Motor UK.

"In this case the need was for very high torque, at low speeds, and a good ratio of power to size and weight".

"The new motor will be ideal for applications such as robotics, conveyors and pick-and-place units". Request a free brochure from Maxon Motor UK ...
