Additional equipment to meet demand for rare earth permanent magnets cut to close tolerances has been installed at Magnequench's new UK factory.

Up to 500,000 pieces, mostly for computer applications, are being despatched every week in step with customers' Just In Time production schedules.

"Our machine operators have participated in a company-wide programme to apply 'lean manufacturing' concepts that have sliced valuable seconds-per-part off the cutting process," says general manager Simon Muter.

"We have also taken advantage of increased floor space to re-model our work flow patterns on a more rational basis.

"Although we continue to look for further improvements, we are confident that our product quality and delivery performance is the best that can be found anywhere in the world today." As well as individual cut magnets, Magnequench supplies complete assemblies for motors, rotors, magnetic pump couplings and other high performance devices.
