The Message Runner from Matsushita Electric Works is an extremely easy to use compact message display unit that allows up to 64 messages to be stored and displayed on a clearly visible eight-character screen The unit can be used in applications where a machine operator requires simple message information or where a full HMI (human machine interface) solution is not cost effective

Housed in a compact DIN36 x 72 case, the eight-character display shows characters up to 14mm in height and messages of up to 32 characters in length that can be scrolled at three different speeds along the display area.

The content of the message, choice of orange or green characters and scroll speed can be determined for each message when the message database is configured using Microsoft's Excel software.

The database information is then downloaded to the display via a serial cable and utility software.

Two methods are used to determine which message is displayed on the unit.

Using a 6bit binary input addressing system, each of the 64 messages can be individually addressed using the outputs of a programmable controller, for example.

Alternatively, the messages can be cycled through sequentially, starting at message 0, by toggling a single input to the unit.

The display is maintenance-free using Flash memory to store the message database and LEDs for backlighting of the LCD display.

The unit is available with grey or black bezels that can be screen printed with or without branding or logos, making it ideal for OEMs.
