Displacement sensor speeds to accurate measurement

A Panasonic Electric Works UK product story

The GP-X is a miniature displacement measurement device with an ultrafast sampling speed of just 25us.

The GP-X is a miniature displacement measurement device with an ultrafast sampling speed of just 25us.

Based on eddy current technology, the device boasts the highest resolution in the industry, ensuring an extremely high level of accuracy.

Typical applications include rotation, eccentricity and vibration sensing along with height and stroke end sensing on machine presses.

With a measurement resolution of 0.02% of full scale and its sampling speed of 25us the GP-X ensures that even high-speed work displacements are not missed.

This miniature device comprises a digital display controller and a sensing head.

The dual five-digit two-colour digital display offers great visibility and there is also a high-go-low indicator for easy recognition of the measurement value status.

To offer flexibility, the GP-X has four selectable memories capable of storing up to four different setups and, depending on the application, there are four measurement modes.

Moreover, there are six ultracompact interchangeable sensing heads, with a measuring range of up to 10mm.

Should one of the head cables - with an extension ability of 10m - become damaged, only the sensing head, and not the controller, needs replacing.

Ambient temperature changes bear little effect on the GP-X and using the preprogrammed specifications the device can offer +/-0.3% full-scale linearity from stainless steel and iron.

To speed output data processing, the GP-X has an optional BCD output unit that allows direct parallel connection to a PLC.

Moreover, with the controller communication unit, up to eight controllers can be connected together with their data sent to a PC or PLC host via just one serial link.

The Intelligent Monitor software application for PCs facilitates data setting and output monitoring along with data comparison and calculation functions.
