Matsushita Electric Works has a new ultra-high-precision SUNX branded CX440 reflective sensor with an advanced optical system.

This innovative system produces just 2% hysteresis and an extremely low difference in sensing range between white and black of just 1%.

The device therefore offers the user the ability to detect measurement differences, independent of the object's colour, as small as 0.4mm - representing a 2.5x increase in performance over previous models.

Furthermore, the sensing performance for differences in the sensing range between white and black has been improved by approximately 30% with the CX440 series.

As a result, both black and white objects can be sensed at the same distance without the need for adjustment, even when different coloured products are moving along the same production line.

The CX400 series has both foreground and background suppression, which can be configured to allow the sensor to concentrate on the area of detection to avoid false triggering.

Moreover, the sensor uses a red LED beam that allows easy visible alignment of the sensor to the object during setup.

As with most Matsushita components, the device is extremely compact, measuring just 11.2 x 31 x 20mm, and is therefore ideal for mounting in confined spaces.

A comprehensive range of IP67 rated devices from the CX400 series is now available, including a 10m through-beam type, a 3m retro reflective type and three diffuse reflective models with ranges of 200, 300 and 800mm.

Accessories include polarising filters, mounting brackets, mounting stands and cables up to 5m for the plug in type.
