Activated carbon cloth widened

A Mast Carbon Advanced Products product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 27, 2007

Mast is now manufacturing in a 1.4m wide activated carbon cloth, more than 40cm wider than competitor products.

Mast Carbon Advanced Products has increased the width of its standard activated carbon cloth to provide a more cost-effective solution in lamination with textiles and other materials for use in defence, OEM engineering, medical device, and other filtration applications.

This new specialist activated carbon cloth from Mast is now manufactured in a 1.4m width, more than 40cm wider than competitor products.

This ensures more effective utilisation of textiles and other materials which are laminated to the carbon cloth and produced in an industry standard 1.5m width.

Mast Carbon's solution is easier for textile producers to work with and will significantly reduce waste.

"As a specialist in activated carbon cloth we are constantly developing the material and extending its capabilities - and this is another major step forward for our customers" says Andy Blackburn, Managing Director of Mast Carbon Advanced Products.

"This is now the widest carbon cloth on the market and so offers clear advantages over other brands".

"We will continue to innovate and promise more developments in the months and years ahead".

C-Tex activated carbon textiles feature an extensive pore structure, ensuring they are extremely versatile in the adsorption of most organic species from vapour and solution.

Standard grades of C-Tex are manufactured from knitted, woven or felted viscose rayon through a high-temperature carbonisation and activation process.

C-Tex is entirely composed of activated carbon filaments in a textile form, the result is an activated carbon content of 100%, making C-Tex 70% more adsorptive (weight for weight) than its carbon loaded textile rivals.

Numerous types and grades of C-Tex can be mass produced to suit different application requirements at Mast's production facility in Plymouth, with specialist laminating, cutting and converting facilities also available.
