Maya Metrix has announced the launch of Metrix Build!IT 2.1, the latest edition of the software which enables 3D CAD part models to be effectively used on the shop floor for measuring and inspecting parts, verify dimensions and alignment of complex assemblies.
Metrix Build!IT is used by designers, tool builders and inspectors at leading aerospace, automotive and manufacturers worldwide.
By using Metrix Build!IT in place of 2D prints, digital designs are seamlessly linked to manufacturing.
Metrix Build!IT provides a common, real-time interactive interface to all the leading portable coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
"Metrix Build!IT contains the features that engineers and designers have been asking for and supports a seamless digital-manufacturing process demanded by today's lean manufacturing environments.
It is very functional, very easy-to-use and very robust", according to Dr Arnold Free, Vice President, Business Development.
Many new features have been added to Build!IT 2.1 including the ability to relocate a CMM during the inspection process, allowing for multiple measurement stations.
Metrix Build!IT 2.1 also offers enhanced support for API and SMX laser tracker portable coordinate measurement machines and dozens of other productivity and robustness enhancements.
Metrix Build!IT introduces a new concept for tool building and routine inspection, which allows changes to the traditional manufacturing process.
This application preserves the CAD link by bringing CAD models directly onto the shop floor.
It takes the guesswork and visualisation problems out of the build and inspection processes by providing a graphical build mode, which allows you to watch your assembly parts as they move into place.
Metrix Build!IT is priced from $9,500 and is designed to run on Windows 98, Windows NT and Windows 2000 platforms and supports interactive real-time interfaces to leading metrology hardware from Leica, API, SMX, Faro, Romer and others.
