New control computer from Micro-Robotics

A Micro-Robotics product story

Micro-Robotics has introduced an extended version of its popular VM-1 credit-card-sized embedded control computer.

To meet the demand for extra application capacity Micro-Robotics, the Cambridge based manufacturer of custom and off-the-shelf embedded control solutions and components, has introduced an extended version of its popular VM-1 credit-card-sized embedded control computer.

Known as the VM-1e, the maximum application code size is increased from 192K to 512K bytes with the new controller being supplied with 512K RAM as standard.

Micro-Robotics technical director, Karl Lam, said: "Because Venom-SC, our proprietary object-oriented, semi-compiled language, is similar to Java in that it has an extremely high code density, only a few of our many customers ever reach the 192K limit.

"However, the development of VM-1e is in recognition of the fact that customer expectations of software-powered products are constantly growing and that engineers prefer to design with spare capacity in hand whenever possible.
