A new miniature, magnet driven gear pump provides smooth, pulseless and leak-free flows up to 5 lit / min with outlet pressures to 8.6 bar.

A new miniature, magnet driven gear pump which provides smooth, pulseless and leak-free flows up to 5 lit / min with outlet pressures to 8.6 bar, has recently been introduced by liquids handling specialists Michael Smith Engineers The new 1100 series Micropump is manufactured using the latest metal injection moulding (MIM) technology and is believed to be the first product of its type which utilises the MIM process

The MIM process enables complex and precision shaped components to be manufactured using a powdered metal process.

This process uses a specially equipped injection moulding machine to mould a formulation of metal powders and polymeric binders.

After moulding, the part is de-binded and sintered to provide a finished stainless steel part which has properties comparable to wrought materials.

In fact, the design of the 1100 series pump has been acknowledged with an award from the Metal Powder Industries Federation for innovative use of the MIM process.

The features and benefits that this manufacturing process brings to a product like the 1100 series pump are numerous.
