The latest addition to the established Micropump range of gear pumps and drives is a new variable speed drive option which is designed to enhance pump performance.

The MPD55D drive incorporates a number of important features making it ideal as a dosing or metering solution, whether stand-alone or integrated with an external control system, through either its analogue or RS 232 interfaces.

Available through Michael Smith Engineers, this rugged, IP55 rated drive is pre-programmed to accept a wide range of Micropump heads and can be set to deliver a known flow rate or set volume.

In addition, the set volume can be called up as often as required via a start / stop button, or controlled from an external signal.

The drive also has a built-in calibration program which enables individual pumps to be calibrated for flow or volume, in a very short period of time.

The drive also features a digital controller and optical encoder to ensure accurate control over a wide speed range of 100 to 3000rpm.

This, combined with the wide range of pump heads available, means that a flow range from 1.7 to 3300ml can be achieved (depending on pump model) with outlet pressures to 8.6 bar.

The combination of variable speed drive with external and manual speed control, plus the pump's ability to deliver a continuous, pulseless flow, makes it an ideal solution for a variety of metering and dosing duties.

Also, because the drive can be programmed to dose a set volume at set time intervals and calibration is built-in, this provides a very accurate and controllable means of fluid delivery.

For applications which require less sophisticated control Micropump offer an alternative drive, the simpler MPD55, providing variable speed and analog remote control.

These new Micropump options are ideal for a wide range of OEM applications or wherever accurate pulseless fluid delivery and variable speeds are required.
