Chris Lines, Managing Director of MSL said: "Adding the Tantec range to MSL's already impressive portfolio of manual, automated and robotic treatment and coating and painting systems for plastic parts will further enhance MSL's capability to provide a complete finishing service to the plastics and rubber industries.
The purpose of surface treatment of polymer-based materials is to increase surface wetability through electrical discharge.
The low surface energy of polymer-based substrates often leads to poor adhesion of inks, glues and coatings.
To obtain optimum adhesion, it is necessary to increase the surface energy of the substrate to just above that of the material to be applied.
Surface treatment with corona results in good wetting of the material over the surface of the substrate and so improves adhesion.
For cleaning and activation of more complex surfaces, plasma treatment can be an economic solution.
"The corporation with Mercia Systems is a perfect match for both parties since MSL are already engaged in all the areas of interest for Tantec", said Morton Thrane, Managing Director of Tantec.
He added: "With this new partnership in place, Tantec and MSL can now offer not only sales but also after-sales service to all of our UK customers".
