Mclennan Servo Supplies has a new digital motion controller that will control up to eight stepper motor or digitally controlled servomotor driven axes.

Mclennan Servo Supplies has a new digital motion controller that will control up to eight stepper motor or digitally controlled servomotor driven axes.

Priced at less than GBP 600, Mclennan's new PM608 controller provides a very economical solution, with costs as little as GBP 75 per motor channel and is ideal for a wide range of industrial and scientific applications that require accurate sequential manipulation of the driven mechanism.

The Eurocard construction is ideal for use by system integrators, a matching motherboard that simplifies connections also being provided.

Communication with the PM608 is by means of an RS232 or RS485 link.

With up to 99 controllers being connected to a single port, the number of motor channels that can be controlled exceeds 700 using a PM608-based system.

The new controller uses the basic Mclennan 600 series command structure and may be integrated in systems that require simultaneous as well as sequential motion when operated alongside Mclennan's powerful PM600 axis controller.

On setup, the number of motor channels to be controlled is programmed into the PM608's memory, which retains all the parameters relating to each channel.

The selected motor channel and status information is provided on the front panel display and motion sequences may be programmed into the PM608 for stand-alone operation.

16 optically isolated digital I/O ports are provided to enable full integration with other process control functions.
