MCP extends vac casting resin range

A MTT Technologies Group product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 20, 2001

MCP Equipment has introduced three new resins to its range of vacuum casting plastics for the creation of high quality, complex prototypes in as little as 24 hours

For engineers involved in the design and manufacture of electronics components, white goods or any parts destined for aggressive environments, new MCP 3174 offers high heat deflection of 95C, coupled with high mechanical properties.

The combination of its high impact strength and good flexural properties makes this the toughest material yet in the range.

New MCP 4165 is a clear UV stable resin capable of producing parts with wall sections up to 100mm thick.

Typical applications of this pigmentable formulation include encapsulation and switchgear housings.

Finally, where speed is a crucial factor, new MCP 3115 demoulds in just 15 minutes.

When compared with other vacuum casting resins, this yields a time saving of 30 minutes delivering faster production rates and lower costs per unit.

Vacuum casting remains the leading process for creating plastic prototype parts in as little as 24 hours - particularly those with highly complex geometry.

Formulations from MCP's complete range of vacuum casting resins can simulate the appearance and properties of many final production materials - from soft flexible rubbers to rigid plastics - and include those which meet FDA and UL 94 V/O approvals.

Cost comparisons with conventional production methods also prove that overall savings of more than 95% can be achieved by vacuum casting.
