Novel approach to optical spectrum
processing

The LambdaCommander programmable spectral processor offers a flexible, powerful, new approach to optical spectrum processing for precision optical applications.

The LambdaCommander programmable spectral processor offers a flexible, powerful, new approach to optical spectrum processing for precision optical applications in remote fibre-optic sensing, optical telecomms and life/health science markets The LambdaCommander gives users complete control of optical spectrum profiles, to simulate a multitude of spectral source types

Based on groundbreaking use by CiDRA Corp of the well proven Texas Instruments digital light processing technology, LambdaCommander uses the digital micromirror device that is at the heart of DLP technology to rapidly switch segments on and off, in an incremental manner, transforming a diffracted spectral profile into an optical output.

This gives the user full control of the intrinsic profile to reshape and define with great precision the exact spectral profile desired for testing or simulation.

Effectively, the fibre-coupled instrument can apply any arbitrary transformation to the original optical signal from simply passing selected narrow wavelengths and blocking others.

It can also apply a complex, time varying function to the spectral shape with bandwidths up to 100nm.

The LambdaCommander's programmable spectral control of an optical signal in a single self-contained instrument provides tremendous flexibility to a photonics laboratory.

The system's innovative approach allows the user to automate testing in the laboratory or manufacturing environments for subnanometer spectral shaping, spectral gain flattening, optical coherence tomography, WDM telecommunications simulation, optical filter design, and many other possible applications.
