Motion controller offers easy access
over the web

The XPS is the latest addition to Newport's family of motion controllers.

The XPS is the latest addition to Newport's family of motion controllers The device is an extremely high performance, yet easy to use, integrated motion controller/driver offering outstanding trajectory accuracy and exceptional programming functionality

It combines simplicity of operation with advanced features to precisely control the most diverse motion sequences and synchronise them via measurement, command, or external data acquisition tools.

With up to eight integrated drive modules, the XPS is capable of driving one to eight axes of any Newport positioners (except PM500) and many other motion devices, whether they use stepper, DC brush, DC brushless rotary or linear, voice coil or piezoelectric actuation.

The XPS is based on a high-performance10/100Base-T Ethernet communication link with TCP/IP protocol and uses a website approach for all software tools and data transfer (using FTP).

This makes it virtually independent of any user operating system (such as Windows).

When networked, Unix, Linux or Windows users can all access the same controller from any place in the world for remote control, code development, data transfer or diagnostics.

The completely object oriented approach of the XPS firmware with powerful, multiple-parameter APIs (commands) is also much more self-consistent and intuitive to use than antiquated mnemonic commands.

Positioners are allocated to groups of motion to get access to the most advanced motion features like line-arc trajectories, splines, or even more complex trajectories like the PVT mode.

An extensive set of compensations including backlash, linear error and single axis, 2D and 3D mapping offer an incredible field of options to increase the accuracy of any application.

All compensations, including the most sophisticated 3D mapping, are taken into account dynamically on the servo cycle that runs at a rate of 10kHz. Request a free brochure from Newport Spectra-Physics ...
