Linear and rotation stages suit precision work

A Newport Spectra-Physics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 5, 2008

The holding force of the motors lock the position of the AG-LS25 and AG-PR100 for true set-and-forget, long-term stability.

Newport has released the AG-LS25 high-precision miniature linear stage and the Agilis series piezo motor-driven rotation stage or polariser rotator.

The Agilis range contains piezo motor remote controllable devices for laser optical setups, including mirror mounts, linear stages and rotation stages, as well as an electronic controller.

The AG-LS25 linear stage is powered by Newport's new Agilis piezo step direct motor and has ultra-high adjustment sensitivity.

It is also lightweight and extremely compact and provides for convenient remote operation.

The Agilis piezo motor is directly coupled to the moving carriage with no intermediate screw or gear.

When idle, the motor holding force locks the position for true set-and-forget, long-term stability.

The AG-LS25 compromises neither adjustment speed nor lifetime and has no backlash.

In contrast to ultrasonic motors, the Agilis nonresonant motor makes small incremental adjustments more predictable with a 50nm incremental motion capability that is suitable for ultra-sensitive alignments.

The AG-PR100 is a polariser rotator which features 360 degree continuous rotation for 25.4mm diameter waveplates and polarisers.

The unit features Newport's Agilis piezo step direct motor which provides ultra-high adjustment sensitivity and convenient remote operation.

The Agilis piezo motor is directly coupled to the moving carriage with no intermediate screw or gear.

Precision motion is achieved by a proprietary ball-bearing that ensures better than 100urad wobble.
