Newport expands compact DPSS laser range

A Newport Spectra-Physics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 6, 2009

Newport Spectra-Physics Lasers Division announces its expanded portfolio of compact diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers.

Excelsior lasers include continuous wave (CW) 50mW at 515nm and 50mW at 594nm.

In addition, the Excelsior and Cyan 488nm lasers at 10 to 40mW are now available with power-adjustability.

Many Excelsior OEM lasers are also offered as fibre-coupled versions, including the 375, 405, 440, 473, 532, 561, 642, 785, and 1064nm models for added flexibility.

The extended Excelsior laser family now includes 13 discrete wavelengths and over 100 models for confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, and other bioinstrumentation applications.

Jurgen Niederhofer, product marketing manager for Newport Spectra-Physics Lasers Division, said: 'The superior beam quality and exceptionally low optical noise of our Excelsior lasers result in excellent fluorescence signal-to-noise ratios.' The comprehensive family of reliable DPSS lasers features excellent thermal management for simplified mechanical integration.

Small and compact, the advanced DPSS laser line offers plug-and-play performance with no matched pairs and no adjustments needed.

The company unveiled the Excelsior and Cyan compact DPSS lasers at Photonics West in San Jose, California in January 2009.
