Newport Corporation will demonstrate a variety of life and health science products during the Neuroscience 2009 exhibition from 17-21 October 2009 in Chicago.
Light sources, lasers, motion control products and optical tables, plus optical filters developed for fluorescence detection will be demonstrated at Newport's booth 837.
Newport's booth will hihglight products and solutions specifically designed for research and OEM applications in life and health sciences
Oriel LED light sources feature an intelligent power supply that recognises the attached LED head and adjusts to the optimal settings for constant illumination over the long life of the product.
Output can be controlled manually or remotely via PC operation.
The Oriel LED light source is suitable for applications, such as microscopy, where a broadband white-light source is required, but also available in a variety of discreet wavelength versions for fluorescence applications where LED light is provided at the appropriate excitation wavelength.
Spectra-Physics Mai Tai HP Deepsee lasers deliver wavelength-tunable ultra-fast pulses with a high peak power for maximum fluorescence signal and utmost tissue penetration depth in multi-photon microscopy.
The lasers feature full automation and computer control in a compact package and built-in dispersion compensation counterbalances dispersive pulse broadening in all commonly used objectives and optical systems, thereby delivering this highest peak power directly to the sample.
The large dynamic range enables remote adjustment of the pulse width between 70 and typically a few hundred femtoseconds, which allows the end user to adjust to a wide range of sample preparations.
Excelsior Visible CW lasers are part of a large portfolio of compact and reliable continuous-wave (CW) lasers for fluorescence-based bioinstrumentation applications.
Newport Spectra-Physics recently extended this range with the Extended Cavity (XC) series, delivering wavelengths at 505, 515 and 594nm with output powers of up to 50mW.
Also part of the XC offering are increased single-frequency output powers at 532nm (up to 300mW) and 561nm (up to 150mW).
Fibre-coupled Excelsior models combine excellent beam properties with the convenience of reliable fibre delivery, according to the company.
Newport's M3 motorised micromanipulator combines 25mm travel with sub-micron resolution, making it suitable for electrophysiology tasks.
The plug-and-play M3 motion control product with its ergonomic controller can be setup within minutes, enabling researchers to start gathering data quickly.
Its high stability over long periods of time it is suitable for repeatable experiments.
The M3 motorised micromanipulator is complemented by other electrophysiology tools, including hydraulic micromanipulators, microscope XY stages, platforms, pipette holders and amplifier adapters.
Newport's Smarttable OTS (optical table system) is designed for laser-based imaging applications.
With accessories that optimise lab space, organisation and safety, the Smarttable OTS is available in the most popular sizes and performance levels to suit requirements.
With the wide variety of product accessories, the OTS upgrade options will support any lab's growing needs.
All optical table systems come with casters as a standard feature.
Newport's Corion optical filters for fluorescence detection include bandpass filters, edge filters and dichroic filters for applications such as in-vivo imaging, cellular analysis, DNA analysis and drug discovery.
